SANTIAGO.- Officials belonging to the Homicide Brigade of the Police Investigations Bureau (PDI) are using police sketches and statements from possible eye-witnesses to search for two suspects that stabbed 30 year-old library science student Rubén Paillamán Maldonado to death last night outside of the San Joaquín campus of the Universidad Católica.

The official in charge of the investigation, Randolf Verdugo, offered the aforementioned information to Emol this morning, adding that police hope to have the DNA results back from a penknife that was found at the scene of the killing, which may possess blood evidence.

The attack took place at 11:00 PM last night on Calle Antonio Acevedo Hernández, which is located just 50 meters from the university campus. The student was allegedly just leaving the campus along with a friend after a day of work as an intern at the campus library.

Two suspects apparently attempted to take the man's book-bag and personal documents; however Paillamán resisted the attack and began a tug-of-war with the assailants that ended with the student receiving three stab wounds to the chest and the suspects fleeing the scene.

For now, police have only the testimony given by the woman that was with the student at the time of the attack, whose identity has not been released for security reasons.  The woman went into a state of shock following the incident.
