SANTIAGO.- The recently resigned Minister of Labor, Osvaldo Andrade, has not ruled out the possibility of running for deputy of the Puente Alto sector instead of for senator of the Maule Region during the next parliamentary elections, asserting that his ultimate goal is to make it into Congress.
"I am packing my bags to go to Congress and the VII North Region doesn't necessarily have to be my only option (…). I am proud to be from Puente Alto and that could also be a very good prospect", Andrade told Radio Cooperativa.
The former minister said that he believes he would be a good candidate due to the work he performed while in his position in the current administration, indicating, "there are concrete results and I think that it would be good to have that same kind of management in Parliament".
Andrade also stated that while he was minister he was able to fulfill three quarters of the President's mandate, including subcontracting, the reform of the pension system and the unemployment insurance bill, which is currently being processed.
"We still have two big projects (left), one is the reform of the labor relations system and one is the public AFP", asserted Andrade.
