SANTIAGO.- The president of the Association of Concessionary Companies, Herman Chadwick, has justified the charge implemented for the new TAG device –which will cost 390 pesos if paid for online or 450 pesos if paid for by mail— assuring that the device benefits drivers by allowing them to use the highways.
“The great benefit for users is not in the $400 pesos they pay for the TAG, it is in the possibility that they have nowadays to use the urban highways, which have resolved a very serious traffic problem in Santiago”, Chadwick told Radio Cooperativa.
The president of the Association of Concessionary Companies also indicated that an agreement has been signed between the interurban highways and the Ministry of Public Works (Ministerio de Obras Públicas, MOP) establishing the monthly payment figure, which will be charged throughout the working life of the device saying, “it is going to be a kind of TAG maintenance rental fee”.
