SANTIAGO. - This morning, the two remaining Israeli tourists that had been reported missing after taking part in an excursion in the mountains of the Ninth Region were rescued.
The two women, both 22 years old, were seen by a police helicopter that had joined the search efforts in the surroundings of the Quetrupillán volcano.
After being rescued, the two women were taken to the San Francisco Hospital in Pucón, where they were diagnosed with minor injuries and were allowed to return to their place of lodging.
The tourists rescued today were part of a group of 18 Israelis that had gone on an excursion near the Villarrica volcano.
After losing their sense of direction, the group had decided to turn back. Six of the tourists however lost the way. Four were rescued yesterday after being located thanks to a satellite telephone they had been carrying with them.
