SANTIAGO. - This morning, police arrested two members of a gang that had been robbing elderly people after they withdrew money from banks.
The arrest was made at 5:00 AM today and the perpetrators have been identified as 26 year-old Manuel Jesús Plaza and 36 year-old Carmen Fabiola Soriano.
The group included two other members: a woman who is currently being held at a penitentiary center, and man who had provided a cellular phone for the crimes, who was arrested yesterday.
The modus operandi of the group had been for the women to “mark” those who had withdrawn large amounts of money and then use the telephone to contact the two men, who waited for the victims outside the bank in order to follow them and later rob them nearby.
