SANTIAGO.- PS Senator and president of the Ethics Commission of the Senate, Ricardo Núñez, stated that he has asked his commission to look into the complaint issued by his PPD counterpart, Guido Girardi, concerning a speeding ticket that was given to his chauffer while driving along Route 68.

"The members of Parliament must be treated just like everyone else. It would not be right, especially since the politics of our country have fallen under question many times, for us also to appear to have certain privileges before the law, which I think is frankly detestable", Núñez told Radio Cooperativa.

Although he indicated that he had no concrete information about the incident, Núñez said that he had summoned his commission to meet on January 7th at 3:00 PM and stated that he was in favor of also asking the Undersecretary of Police, Javiera Blanco, to be present in order to "offer a clear picture" about what happened.

"I believe that the Executive Branch, and in this case the under-secretariat, cannot afford to be linked to preferential situations", asserted Núñez.
