General Gordon revokes sanctions for police officers that fined Girardi

The Director of the institution has used his authority to retract the penalties.

SANTIAGO. - The General Director of National Police, Eduardo Gordon, has decided to annul the disciplinary sanctions instated for the behavior of two officers that issued a fine to the driver of a vehicle transporting Senator Guido Girardi for traveling above the speed limit (at 139 kilometers per hour) along Route 68. 


By way of a press release, Gordon indicated that “the General Director of Police, through the use of his regulation revision authority, has decided to revoke the minor disciplinary sanctions instated against two police officers by the respective commander who was informed of the incident, in accordance with his authority, regarding police procedures, consisting in the notification of an infraction of Transit Law, on November 19th of this year, involving driver of H. Senator Guido Girardi Lavín on Route 68”.


The sanctions refer to a two-day jail sentence given to Officer Marcos Díaz Sandoval, which was later reduced to a written reprimand.


In the case of Officer Claudio Gómez, the penalty given was one day of arrest, and was reduced to a written reprimand or warning issued by his superior.
