Copper plunges to lowest value in more than 4 years: US$ 1.25

The red metal dove 2.82%, down to its lowest value since September 7th of 2004.

LONDON.- Copper closed with another loss, this time of 2.82%, today at the London Metal Exchange (LME) after trading for US$ 1.25645 per pound, compared to US$ 1.29297 on Tuesday and US$ 1.32018 on Monday of this week.


As a result, the monthly average dropped to US$ 1.41003, while the yearly average slipped to US$ 3.17538.


Today's value is the lowest for the red metal since September 7th of 2004, when it traded for US$ 1.25532.


Meanwhile, the future-3-month price quote ended at US$ 1.27913 per pound, down 1.91% from Tuesday (US$ 1.30408).


At the LME, stocks rose by 3,250 metric tons to 331,450.  So far this year, there has been an accumulated increase of 134,000 MT (+67.87%).
