Son of Senator Alberto Espina involved in car accident in Lo Barnechea

SANTIAGO.- One of the sons of Senator Alberto Espina (RN) suffered a multiple concussion early this morning after being involved in a car accident at the intersection of Avenida José Alcalde Délano and Camino Los Trapenses in Lo Barnechea.

According to Radio ADN, 22 year-old Nicolás Espina was travelling south-bound along José Alcalde Délano in a Peugeout 206 just after 3:45 AM this morning when, at the Camino Los Trapenses, he collided with the Fiat vehicle whose driver was running a red light.

As a result, Espina's car was hit, causing him and his girlfriend varying degrees of injury.  The driver and passenger of the vehicle that allegedly caused the accident were also injured.

Paramedics were dispatched to the scene of the crash to rescue one of the crash victims that had become trapped.

Police Captain Felipe Morales stated that the driver of the vehicle that collided with Nicolás' car was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.

The four crash victims were taken to the Clínica Alemana and Clínica Las Condes medical centers to receive treatment for their injuries.
