Police capture man in action as he stabs girlfriend in La Florida

SANTIAGO.- The man caught in the act by police as he stabbed his girlfriend in the home the two shared in la Florida has been identified as 42 year-old Nelson Medina Contardo.

According to Radio Cooperativa, the arrest was made possible thanks to neighbors, who aided police in entering the residence.

Nevertheless, the officers arrived as 33 year old Hortensia del Carmen Medina Torres was being stabbed by her live-in boyfriend.

According to on-duty police officer Luis Alvarado, "the woman, another victim of what has come to be known as 'femicide', died as a result of her injuries".
