De Gregorio on European tour to meet with Central Bank Presidents

The President of the Central Bank will also hold meetings with the heads of European banks who do the most business with Chile.

SANTIAGO.- The President of the Central Bank of Chile, José De Gregorio, will be touring some of the most important capital cities in Europe to meet with central bank presidents and commercial bank leaders.


The tour, which will take place between the 16th and 19th of January will include meetings with the President of the European Central Bank, Jean Claude Trichet as well as the Presidents of the Bank of England, Mervyn King; the Central Bank of Holland, Nout Hem Wellink; the Bank of Spain, Miguel Fernandez Ordóñez; Bundesbank, Axel Webet and the Bank of France, Christian Noyer.


During his interviews, José De Gregorio will reveal the primary aspects of the Monetary Policy and Financial Stability reports, which will be published next week.


The President of the Chilean Central Bank will also participate in the 11th World Economic Conference entitled, “The Fundamental Principles of Financial Regulation” – organized by the International Center for Monetary and Banking Studies (ICMB)—, which will be held on the 24th of January in Geneva, Switzerland, as well as the 2009 International Economic Forum for Latin America and the Caribbean –organized by the OECD— which will take place on the 26th of January in Paris.
