SANTIAGO. -  This morning, the governor of the Province of Chacbuco, Nicolás Pavez, confirmed that a group of individuals found several human bones in on the premises of the former Army Parachuting School in Peldehue.

According to Radio Cooperativa, Pavez also announced that although initially only a skull had been found, reports now confirm that other bones were also discovered that allegedly belong to the same skeleton.

Moreover, the governor assured that in light of the recent finding, it is too early to be jumping to the conclusion that the remains are those of a missing political prisoner and stated that “recent weeks have just shown us that we need to be extremely careful with these matters” while referring to the controversy that was generated after the statements made by Deputy Karla Rubliar regarding falsely reported cases of missing political prisoners.

On Monday of this week, an investigator from the Legal Medical Service will be sent to the scene to examine the remains along with the public prosecutor in charge of the investigation, Mauricio Vergara.
