SANTIAGO.- Rafael Cavada has been hospitalized due to a fractured femur after being involved in an accident early this morning while riding his motorcycle through the municipality of Providencia.

The host of "La Liga" (Mega), who is also frequently seen covering war conflicts for TVN, crashed into a car while riding his motorcycle south-bound on Avenida Holanda. The crash occurred just as he was arriving at Avenida Jaime Guzmán, where the Chevrolet vehicle was located at the time of the incident.

According to police, neither the reporter nor the driver of the car was under the influence of alcohol at the time.

The collision fractured one of Cavada's legs, prompting him to be hospitalized at the Clínica Alemana medical center, where he has been diagnosed with serious, though non life-threatening injuries. Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle ended up with only minor injuries.

Rafael Cavada is currently serving a 2-year probation period, which he was sentenced to in September of 2007. In February of this year, the reporter was involved in a fight following a traffic incident. The courts found him guilty of drunk driving and causing serious and minor injuries, requiring him to sign in with authorities every month.
