Gas stove explosion leaves two injured in Las Condes

According to firefighters, the accident was a result of carelessness on the part of both individuals.

SANTIAGO.- Two young people ended up with severe burns on 20% of the surface of their bodies last night in Las Condes after the gas stove that they had been cooking on in their apartment exploded.


According to Radio Cooperativa, the victims, Gerardo Ávila Salas and Jaime Baeza Ovalle, both 18 years old, shared an apartment in the Dacotas condominium on the corner of Américo Vespucio and Francisco Bilbao.


According to preliminary reports from the firefighting squad that arrived first on the scene, the stove exploded due to the boy's carelessness. Apparently they had been handling the gas appliance in a dangerous way.


Salas was taken to the Clínica Alemana and Baeza to another medical facility.
