Police thwart ATM machine robbery in Olmué

SANTIAGO.- Thanks to a timely 133 call placed by witnesses, police officers managed to halt the latest attempt to steal an ATM machine in the Municipality of Olmué in the Region of Valparaíso.

As was reported, four individuals managed to remove the dispenser from its base, located at the Banco de Chile branch on Prat 12, using oxycut equipment.

When police arrived, the group abandoned the ATM machine and escaped in an automobile without a license plate, apparently headed towards Santiago.

Nevertheless, one of the robbers, identified as Rodrigo Hidalgo Sarabia, 33, did not manage to get into the car and was arrested by police.

The man has an address in the Municipality of Ñuñoa and has an extensive criminal record. He will be put in the hands of the Supervisory Court of Olmué for his detention proceedings, reported radio Cooperativa.
