SANTIAGO.- An attack launched by Dannie Baker against a group of young Chileans working in the United States allegedly lasted some 30 seconds. The incident took place early yesterday morning, leaving both Racine Balbontín and Nicolás Corp dead, while Sebastián Arizaga, Francisco Cofré and David Bilbao were wounded.

"From what David told me, it all happened very fast, I think within 30 seconds", Alejandro Demetrio –who spoke to Bilbao following the attack— told Radio Bío Bío.

According to the young man, approximately 13 Chileans and one Peruvian national were gathered together after work, when they heard a loud noise in another room of the home they were in.

"They were talking, he (David Bilbao) was close to a window and suddenly heard a loud noise in the kitchen. He got up immediately to see what it was. After hearing a series of shots and feeling a burning sensation on his arm, he threw himself to the floor. There, he saw the people that had unfortunately been killed", stated Demetrio.

According to Bilbao's friend, some of the victims had planned to chase the murderer, but the rest of the group convinced them not to do so, fearing that they too could be killed. Fortunately, David began to scream and called 911, prompting paramedics to arrive and treat those who had been wounded.

"We have come to the conclusion that this guy was racist (…). The individuals that unfortunately were killed received direct gunshots and David, by getting up from the table, obstructed the killers shooting angle and survived", said Demetrio.
