Victims of school explosion not in life-threatening condition

SANTIAGO.- According to Metropolitan Intendent Igor Garagulic, the seven people who were injured last night after an explosion occurred in the chemistry lab of the school Institución Teresiana de Las Condes, are not in life-threatening condition. Garafulic visited three of the victims at the Hospital del Salvador medical center.


For now, the most serious victim of the explosion is Heriberto Henríquez Ceballos, who has multiple fractures and had to undergo surgery throughout the night last night. "He came in with injuries to his ankle and his femur, but he has been operated on and the doctor says that he is not in life-threatening condition", stated the official.


Meanwhile, José Orellana Bravo, who suffered a fracture to his ankle, is waiting to enter the operating room for a surgical cleansing of the area.


Furthermore, Osvaldo Zurita Sandoval arrived at the medical center with burns to his face and arm, but has been listed in stable condition.


The other victims of the explosion were Gonzalo Méndez Schaefer, who remains at the UC Clinical Hospital, and Edison Flores, who was taken to the Clinica Alemana medical center with varying degrees of injuries. Meanwhile, Renato Bravo Valdéz and Ramón Palma Sandoval have already been discharged.
