SANTIAGO.- As Prince Charles of England and his wife, Camila, Duchess of Cornwall, continue their visit through Chile, the Commander in Chief of the Navy, Rodolfo Codina, has stressed that the connection between the Chilean and English armies is "very close and lasting".

"We have acquired vessels from the British Army on several occasions (…) and we have also ordered new custom-made ships", stated the admiral.

During an interview with the program TVN 24 horas, Codina also indicated that the visits the royal family has made to Chile also contribute to the bond between the two navies.

With regards to the agenda the monarch and his wife will have while in Valparaíso, Codina stated that the prince "is going to reveal the entire transfer process that took place in England", while the duchess "will be given the opportunity to tour some of the frigates".

As an anecdotal side note, Codina also mentioned that the uniforms of the Chilean and English navies are "practically the same, except for the buttons (…) the shields and the hat".
