SANTIAGO.- An explosion in Santiago –the second in 24 hours- was registered early this morning near the underpass at the intersection of Manuel Antonio Matta and Americo Vespucio, in the municipality of Quilicura, interrupting the passage of cargo trains along the railroad.

Officials belonging to the Special Operations Police Force (GOPE) were dispatched to the site, where they found a black flag and pamphlets alluding to the Day of the Young Combatant, which is to be commemorated on March 29th in memory of the Vergara Toledo brothers.

Through an e-mail, the attack was claimed by an organization known as the "The Vergara Toledo Brothers Sabotage Group", which indicated that the explosion was an attempt to disrupt the companies: Ferrocarriles del Pacífico S.A. (Fepasa), KDM, which transports residential waste, and Cementos Biobío, both of whom use the railway".

The email also stated that the group has issued a call "for everyone who is unhappy with the government and the economic crisis to take to the streets" on March 29th.

This explosion is in addition to another that occurred yesterday morning at the Atal de Providencia car dealership.
