SANTIAGO.- Now that Diego Poblete has resumed some of his biological functions after suffering from a troublesome infection last week, the boy's father, Luis Poblete, has stated that his son (the recipient of a liver transplant) is in stable condition and is expected to recover.

According to Radio ADN, Luis Poblete stated that him and his family are feeling optimistic, but indicated that they are carefully monitoring any changes in the boy's health condition as he continues to be treated Hospital Luis Calvo Mackenna.

"I am a little calmer and more relaxed because he is making good progress. The scare we had on Monday has now passed", stated Luis Poblete. The father also indicated that the complication his son suffered last week as the result of an infection has been "almost completely controlled".

Diego will once again enter the operating room today to "undergo a surgical cleansing procedure and examination of the area, the liver and the kidney system".

Over the weekend, Diego's parents were visited by Gonzalo Cruzat, the father of Felipe Cruzat, who passed away after waiting several months for a heart transplant.

In reference to the visit, Luis Poblete said it "was a surprise and we thanked him".
