SANTIAGO.- Insisting that Minister of Interior Edmundo Pérez Yoma received preferential treatment with regards to his kidney transplant, the secretary general of the UDI seemed surprised by the announcement of a possible lawsuit being filed against him by the state secretary for having alluded to the notion that waiting lists may have been overlooked in order for the transplant to occur.
When asked whether the UDI possesses evidence that the minister may have been moved ahead of some people on the transplant lists to receive his kidney, Pérez stated that he “will not enter into such a debate, since it is a debate that has to be addressed by Minister Pérez Yoma”.
Following the announcement made yesterday by Minister of Government Affairs Carolina Tohá, Pérez said that the statement was a “sign of intolerance” on the part of the state secretary and warned that the criticism the Alianza receives from the Concertació, generally, “is of a much greater caliber”.
