SANTIAGO.- Police arrested three individuals that took part in the robbery of a ski supply store using the "moon-landing" method of crashing a vehicle through the front window pane of the business. The assailants also attempted to take an automatic teller machine from a bank branch in Chicureo.

Those arrested were identified as Wibo Carrasco Aránguiz, 18, Juan Castro Urrutia, 23, and Carlos Sáez Osorio, 22. The latter had been previously arrested a startling 40 times for various offenses and, according to police, went out of the jail one month ago.

The suspects arrived at the Los Ingleses shopping center, located at kilometer 2 of Avenida Chicureo, along with at least four other individuals. The group then split up and broke into the store "La Picá del Ski", where they stole an estimated 30 million pesos worth of merchandise.

While the store was being burglarized, the rest of the group unsuccessfully tried to take an ATM machine from a Security bank. The activation of alarms alerted police, who arrived immediately at the scene and began pursuing the individuals. While three of the suspects were apprehended, police are still searching for the rest of the individuals that managed to flee.
