Massú enjoys solid debut at Kitzbühel ATP

The Chilean tennis player defeated Czech player Robin Vik by 6-4 and 6-2.

KITZBÜHEL.- Chilean tennis player Nicolás Massú (ATP No.122) debuted with a win today at the Kitzbühel ATP tournament in Austria.


Chile's number three player triumphed over Czech national Robin Vik (ATP No.379) with scores of 6-4 and 6-2 in one hour and 47 minutes of game play.


The first set began evenly for both players; however Massú managed to pull ahead after a break point in the fifth game allowed him to close out the set with a score of 6-4 in 51 minutes.


The second half of the match could not have gone more swimmingly for the Chilean tennis star, who attained a score of 5-1 with two break points in his favor. Massú finally closed out the match with a monumental score of 6-2 in 51 minutes.


In the second round of the Austrian clay tournament for a total of US$ 571 thousand dollars in prizes, Massú will face the winner of a match between Israeli player Dudi Sela (ATP No.55) and French national Nicolas Devilder (ATP No.60).
