Chile signs energy agreement with France

PARIS.- As part of President Michelle Bachelet's official visit to France, the nation has signed two energy agreements with Chile for the development of Non-Conventional Renewable Energies (NCRE).

The Chilean Minister of Energy, Marcelo Tokman, and the French head of Ecology, Energy and Territorial Planning, Hubert Falco, signed a specific agreement concerning renewable energies, as well as a letter of intent specifying the conditions of the collaboration.

The pact establishes measures for cooperation between the French Environment and Energy Management Agency (ADEME) and the Chilean Center for Renewable Energies.  The agreement hopes to promote energy diversification, as well as generation through alternative sources and the development of non-conventional renewable energies.

The initiative also establishes support for resource cadastres and power measurements for alternative energy sources, exchanges and cooperation with regards to efficient energy, and the evaluation of greenhouse gas emissions.
