VIÑA DEL MAR.- While commencing the first cabinet meeting for 2008, President Michelle Bachelet "laid down the law" for her ministers and undersecretaries, emphasizing that she needs to be able to count on an "organized government" during what she calls "the 2nd half" of her presidency.
"I want an organized government, energetically working to make the public policies that we are developing a reality", declared the President.
"What am I hoping for? I hope that the government authorities here today can lead the way for the changes that we are developing, that they are in constant communication with the people, showing their leadership, involved in all parts of the process and responding to any concerns; and that they also take responsibility for meeting the needs and demands of the people", she added.
After stressing the need to strengthen work on the ground and improve the distribution of benefits to the public, the President made it clear that, "during this second half that we have begun, there is no time to improvise, there is no time for analysis".
