SANTIAGO.- During the team's first season outside of the first division, Real Sociedad president Iñaki Badiola has prioritized strengthening the team so that it can compete back into the top division.
Little by little, Badiola is keeping his word. The team has taken on three new players and there are still two more to be added: a far left-winger and a forward. Badiola is insisting that the new forward be Serbian player Nicola Zigic of Valencia, while he is hoping for Chilean player Carlos Villanueva to fill the winger position.
"We asked for a price 15 days ago from his team. We'll see what happens", Badiola stated to Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo". Real Sociedad should have an answer sometime during the next few hours, since Valentín Cantergiani, president of Audax Italiano and manager for Chile's number one soccer player during 2007, returned from London a couple of days ago where he had traveled to sign off on the transfer of Franco Di Santo to the English league team Chelsea.
Nevertheless, Badiola will not receive any "kindness" from Cantergiani, who has grown tired of telling him that Villanueva costs seven million euros and that he will not begin until June.
"We should talk (he and Valentín Cantergiani), because if he doesn't let me go, I would like to earn what a seven-million euro player earns, that is the price being asked for my transfer", Villanueva said yesterday.
