SANTIAGO.-  Despite serious injuries, 13 year-old fraternal twin sisters Francisca and Antonia Weinstein Perelman are currently listed in stable condition in the Intensive Pediatric Care Unit of the Clínica Alemana Medical Care Center.  The girls were admitted to the hospital early this morning after being seriously injured in a plane crash.

Both girls have been diagnosed with closed head injuries, but are in neurologically stable condition.

Antonia also has a fractured pelvis and has broken both of her legs.  Her condition is being evaluated to determine whether or not she will require surgical intervention sometime during the day.

The twins´ injuries were sustained during a plane crash, which occurred at noon on Thursday. The girls´ mother was killed in the accident, along with three other people.

The aircraft they had been traveling in was a Piper Azteca PA-34, registration code CC-PIL, that had taken off from Lake Ranco, just a few kilometers from where the plane began to show signs of trouble.  The pilot and five passengers were on their way to Pucón and had planned to make an emergency landing in Temuco.
