SANTIAGO.- Following the closing of the Lontué Railway Bridge in the Seventh Region, Chilean State Railways (EFE) has announced that, starting tomorrow, the Terrasur transport service between Santiago and Chillán will be reinstated.
The Terrasur Santiago-Chillán service will include a transfer and bus connection in the town of Curicó, after which passengers will board another train in Molina to arrive at the final destination of Chillán. The trip will take approximately four and a half hours to complete.
The EFE is currently working with the Ministry of Public Works (MOP) to get the Lontué Bridge back up and running. Structural repairs on the bridge are expected to take approximately one month, during which time the Terrasur service will use the transfer instead.
In wake of the emergency measure, the EFE has assured that passengers will promptly be informed of any schedule changes, interruptions, or substitutions.
