Woman victim of brutal attack in Chillán

CHILLAN. -  A woman has been hospitalized in Chillán with serious knife wounds to her neck and face after she was brutally attacked by her ex-boyfriend in her home, where she lives with her 10 year-old son.

The incident took place at the home of the victim, identified as Silvia Escalona Sáez, on Pasaje Huilliches in the Brisas neighborhood of Chillán, where the woman’s ex-boyfriend, who has been identified as Pedro Parada Sepúlveda, arrived and attacked her with a kitchen knife after an argument.

According to information from the newspaper “La Discusión”, the incident, as was clarified during the arrest hearing for the attacker, unfortunately was witnessed by the couple’s 10 year old son who, after witnessing the attack, desperately began hitting his father in an attempt to try and protect his mother.  The young boy allegedly caused minor injuries to Parada.
