SANTIAGO.- After the Minister of Interior, Edmundo Pérez Yoma, received a kidney transplant yesterday at the Hospital Clínico UC, the secretary general of the UDI, Senator Víctor Peréz, has asked the government and the Ministry of Health to "publicize information about patients on organ waiting lists".

The Member of Parliament argued that "doubts cannot exist among the general public that generate suspicions about the matter, which is why there should not only be a list of patients that have been prioritized due to health reasons, but that list should also be public and available to anyone".

"There should be no doubt that the priority list is being created based on medical criteria and no other type of consideration", he stated.

Víctor Pérez added that "it is not good for the system when a public official undergoes an expedited operation, and doubts arise with regards to whether some patients enjoy certain privileges".
