"La Nana" to be distributed in US after taking first place at Sarasota Festival

The film by Sebastián Silva will be available on both DVD and television through the distributor Film Movement.

SANTIAGO.- The Chilean film "La Nana" has continued its brilliant passage through the international festival circuit after winning first prize at the Sarasota Film Festival. The award also means that the film has been guaranteed a DVD distribution offer in the United States.


The movie, which is the second feature-length film by Sebastián Silva, who has already received awards at the Sundance Festival; in Miami; Cartagena (Colombia) and Friburgo (Switzerland), was given the award of "Best Movie" for the festival, which commenced in 1998 and takes place in Florida, United States.


"La Nana" was not only recognized with a trophy this time, but also an offer from the prestigious distributor Film Movement to distribute the film in the United States in the formats of DVD, Video On Demand and television. Furthermore, the movie will debut at a New York theatre as a promotional gig for possible release in other U.S. theatres.


"We are very proud of this year's program and we believe that the judges have made excellent choices", stated organizing director of the event, Tom Hall, once the gala had ended. "We are very honored to see these films making their way to the market as a result of their participation in the Sarasota Film Festival", Hall added in reference to the distribution prizes that were launched this year.
