SANTIAGO.- President Michelle Bachelet said good bye with a warm hug this morning to Government spokesperson, Ricardo Lagos Weber, who resigned from his position yesterday in order to run for Fifth Costal Region senator.

At the ceremony, Francisco Vidal was sworn in as the new Government Secretary General, a position that he has already held during the presidency of Ricardo Lagos Escobar.

After Bachelet and Interior Minister, Belisario Velasco, had signed, applause sealed the arrival of the new state secretary and the departure (after occupying the position for 21 months) of Lagos Weber, who was thanked by the President.

The Head of State stressed the loyalty of the spokesperson, his dedication and political support to the cabinet. She also pointed out that he embodied the most distinctive traits of modern politics. "I am sorry that you are leaving, but I understand your decision", said the President.

Concerning Vidal, the President deemed him a great politician and great human being and expressed that it is not common to find two personalities with the moral stature that these two possess.
