SANTIAGO.-  Minister of Education Yasna Provoste has made the decision to suspend former Metropolitan Seremi member Alejandro Traverso despite the Comptroller’s request to have him removed from his position. On February 4th, the Comptroller’s Office had announced a proposal to have the regional official dismissed due to administrative irregularities in the issuance of subsidies worth more than $262,000,000,000 CLP (two-hundred and sixty two billion pesos).

Provoste´s decision was accompanied by a legal report justifying her conclusion and was delivered to the Comptroller’s Office last night.

The Comptroller’s Office will now need to approve Provoste´s decision.  Comptroller Ramiro Mendoza could possibly reject the conclusion if the Office of the Comptroller finds that the minister’s decision is not sufficiently justified in legal terms.
