SANTIAGO.- An eventful municipal council meeting was held in Huechuraba this morning, after the Comptroller’s report indicating several financial anomalies within the administration was released on Tuesday of this week.

It all began as more than 100 people crowded into the small Municipal Council room yelling and carrying banners in support of Mayor Carolina Plaza, a former member of the Independent Democratic Union.

Meanwhile, residents hissed and booed at Concertación councilors Camila Benado (PS), Gabriel Rodriguez (DC) and Sergio Escobar (PPD), who asked the mayor to read off the conclusions of the Comptroller’s report. The session carried on normally after Mayor Plaza complied with the request.

Nevertheless, at the end of the meeting and after an hour of incidents, the three councilors stood up and left the conference as Plaza thanked audience members for their support.

The councilors left the congregation room without responding to the wave of insults, hisses and profanities.
