SANTIAGO.- A Transantiago bus ended up embedded in the side of an apartment building after an accident at the intersection of Américo Vespucio and Departamental this morning in the municipality of La Florida.

The vehicle, which was traveling along Departamental at the time, veered off the road after crashing into a second bus, hitting a post and then a traffic light.

Moments later, the bus slid approximately one meter off of a ledge, crushed two vehicles that were parked below, damaged a third and then crashed into an apartment building.

Two passengers received minor injuries from the accident, which forced a temporary delay in traffic at the intersection.

"I was sleeping and at 6:20 AM I awoke to a large crashing sound. I thought someone was falling through the roof, but then they got me out and I saw that everything was destroyed. My bed was literally destroyed. I was speechless with fear", stated Pablo Muñoz, who was in the bedroom that the bus crashed into.

The owner of the apartment, Patricio Díaz, has asked the company that owns the bus to pay to repair the damages to the wall and the other property that was destroyed. Díaz also claims that his car was completely crushed by the Transantiago bus.
