Two teenagers arrested in million-peso warehouse robbery in San Miguel

The boys are 13 and 16 years old. The older teen reportedly has a previous record for various crimes.

SANTIAGO.- A boy only 13 years old, as well as a 16 year-old and an adult are among the first to be arrested in connection with the million-peso robbery that took place early this morning at a warehouse belonging to the company "Cartim", where more than 200 million pesos in hair and beauty products were stolen.


According to Captain Gonzalo Cortés, of the 12th Commissary of San Miguel, the arrest was made after officers from his unit caught the 13 year-old boy with initials V.M.C.M. holding open the door of the warehouse, located near the intersection of Departamental and Gran Avenida.


After entering the establishment, police arrested the 16 year-old boy (initials M.A.M.S.) along with 33 year-old David Mauricio Moris Guzmán, who were attempting to flee the scene running on the roofs of nearby establishments.


According to the preliminary investigation, the 16 year-old possesses 7 previous incidents on his record for numerous crimes including attempted robbery, vandalism and breaking and entering. Meanwhile, the adult also possesses a criminal record for violent robbery, mugging, grand theft, as well as breaking and entering.


The detainees were taken to the 12th Commissary of San Miguel to await formal charges.
