SANTIAGO.- Although there have still been no suspects arrested following the murder of a mother, her son and a housekeeper in the Peñablanca neighborhood of Villa Alemana, the prosecutor in charge of the case has assures that authorities have not ruled out the possibility that there may have been more than one person involved in the killings.
During an interview with Radio ADN, the Valparaíso Public Prosecutor Mónica Arancibia stated that other suspects will likely emerge in addition to Pablo Aravena, who is the step-son of 55 year-old victim Videca Segovia Montenegro and the step-brother of 17 year-old victim Felipe Aravena Segovia. Police believe the two victims may have been slain along with their housekeeper, 40 year-old Victoria Donoso, amidst a discrepancy over inheritance.
"One of the hypotheses is that there may have been more than one person involved in the killings, but it also could have been done by just one person, who tied the individuals up one by one as they arrived home", stated Arancibia.
The prosecutor also said that the murders took place on Monday of this week and not Tuesday as preliminary reports had indicated.
Arancibia declared that, for now, only one suspect is being investigated by the police to determine his possible involvement in the deaths. "The Homicide Brigade is conducting a series of interviews and one of the people they are talking to is Pablo Aravena, since relatives indicated that he might have had a conflict with the woman", asserted the prosecutor.
