Javiera Blanco: Official involved in corruption network will not be dealt any kind of leniency

The Undersecretary of Police has applauded the work done by the government initiative “Agenda de Probidad y Tranparencia” (Agenda for Probity and Transparency) to put an end to corruption.

SANTIAGO. -  Following the discovery of a corruption network involving officials belonging to the Bureau of Police Investigations (PDI), the Judicial Branch and allegedly a National Police Major, the undersecretary of the institution, Javiera Blanco, has assured that there will not be a “soft hand” taken if it is proved that the official did indeed participate.


“What is important is that there is no light-handedness, no type of leniency when situations like this are discovered”, Blanco told Radio Cooperativa.


Despite the fact that the official may have already been identified, the undersecretary merely claimed that authorities have everything necessary to investigate the matter said that it was not possible for her to prematurely offer any kind of information.


Blanco applauded the work done by the government initiative “Agenda de Probidad y Transparencia”, assuring that it has been a very important project for President Bachelet´s administration and has allowed the problem of corruption to be tackled.
