SANTIAGO.- The Humanist Party has decided to abandon negotiations it had been pursuing with the political coalition "Juntos Podemos" and the Concertación to reach a pact regarding the parliamentary elections in December.

The information was announced by the president of the party, Efrén Osorio, along with former presidential candidate Tomás Hirsch.

The leaders explained that the decision was based on the fact that the party considered the Concertación's proposal to allow "Juntos Podemos" vacancies in seven districts to be an unsatisfactory agreement for all parties involved.

It was for this reason the Humanist Party announced that it would develop its own list of parliamentary candidates and will only not present candidates in four or five districts within which the Communist Party, according to an agreement reached with the left, hopes to have a deputy elected.

The reason, according to the politicians, is because they wish to respect and not interfere in the Communist Party's decision to reach a pact with the Concertación.

Nevertheless, the announcement complicates Communist Party aspirations, since yesterday the leaders of the Concertación parties stated that they hoped to reach agreements with all of the parties that make up "Juntos Podemos".
