SANTIAGO.- Speaking about the financial crisis currently affecting a large portion of the world’s economies, Minister of Finance Andrés Velasco stated that it is “a different kind of movie with an ending we haven’t seen yet”.

The minister reminded people that 6 months ago he had said that all of the signs indicated that “something serious was on its way”.

“At the time there were people who said that it wasn’t such a big problem, but indeed, the facts have shown that it is an important financial recession that has had consequences in a significant part of the world and one that we obviously need to pay attention to”, he added.

When asked about the national economy’s current situation, Velasco said that before he became the Minister of Finance, he had studied the factors that put a country in a vulnerable situation amidst a global financial crisis.
